SJones

Site

Brand-new constructed home on a private property in Maple Ridge.

Intention

To create a landscape that compliments the home, pool, spa, cabana, and large natural-rock retaining walls. Child-play friendly.

Solution

The elevation of the pool, patio, spa and cabana were chosen to be level with the rear architectural patio to make it safe for children and pets. On the backside of the pool a large natural-rock waterfall will serve as a focalpoint to be viewed from all rooms on the backside of the house as well as from the rear patios. A set of natural rock retaining walls are designed to bring the pool elevation down to the property line elevation on the N and E side of the house. Stone steps run along the retaining walls to move people up and down the steep elevations safely. We designed the Cabana to be located on the N side of the house to take advantage of the large side-yard. A four-foot (4') cedar fence with self-closing gates will perimeter both sides and rear yard. Emerald Cedars will be planted on both side yards for extra privacy. A large variety of colourful trees, shrubs and perennials are designed to create a four-season garden to complement this stunning new home. The installation of an underground irrigation system, black poly edging, shredded bark mulch and specially chosen plant material will lend itself to be a low-maintenance landscape.
